Donating

Any donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference to Great Aves, the projects we run, and the schools, children and communities we support. To donate, see the bottom of this page or contact us.

Our work provides benefit to people from all over the world, and we have been very grateful to receive donations from many different parts of the globe. Donations can come in the form of financial gifts, materials, books and the giving of time or knowledge to a task or project. Great Aves relies on donations to increase the effectiveness of our projects, and the benefit we give to the areas where we work. If you are from a company, please visit our Corporate Sponsorship pages.

There are 3 main ways to donate

Materials

Materials are useful both in the UK and in Ecuador. Stationary is used both at our offices and at the project, with large amounts of pens, pencils and paper being used in the schools. Much of this equipment is far more expensive to purchase in Ecuador (where are Amazon Teaching Project is located), than in England, United States, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Books

The main focus of the organisation is with literacy. With our Buy a Book campaign, we aim to distribute books in both Spanish and English to our projects. Children's books are the most useful, but any donation is appreciated.

Sports Equipment

Footballs, tennis balls, basketballs, volley balls, rugby balls... you name it, we can never get enough balls. Pumps too come in handy, to keep all these balls pumped up. We are also looking for nets, and baseball bats, hockey sticks, tennis racquets, badminton racquets and table tennis bats. Bibs, cones, and sports wear are also useful donations.

Stationary and School Equipment

As mentioned above, we get through mountains of pens, pencils and paper each year. We also need; colouring pencils, colouring pens, erasers, rulers, , post-it notes, paints, paint-brushes, paper clips, scissors, protractors, compasses, calculators, Spanish-English dictionaries, board markers, highlighters, plastic wallets, crayons and chalk, and anything else you can think of.

Monetary Donations

Financial donations are what keeps Great Aves running. They can be specified to specific areas such as our projects, or books, however we rely on financial donations for the more mundane tasks of running a non-profit organsiation, and keeping Great Aves operating. Funds can be donated through one-off payments or through a few pounds (or dollars) a month. If you can spare the time, fund-raising activities, such as parties, fun-runs, or proceeds from jumble sales can make all the differece. For these activities, please see our Volunteering from home page.

Donating time or knowledge

There are never enough hours in the day, and even our super intelligent staff do not know everything. Donating your time to Great Aves is possibly the most valuable asset you can give. If you have a special skill (Accountant, lawyer, designer, solicitor, journalist or web-designer), work in marketing, or have a specialist knowledge or experience in the charity sector or as a teacher, we would love to hear from you. If you don't possess any of these skills, then dedication, sharing our goals, and a willingness to help are just as precious. Please visit our Volunteering from home page for more information.
