Internships

For anybody looking to get a job in the charity sector, or looking for experience vital for any career jobs, internships are a worthwhile way to get work experience.

Internships with Great Aves

Internships with Great Aves are perfect for people at university looking for experience to get graduate jobs, and people needing to work other part-time jobs to supplement their income. Great Aves internships are short-term, unpaid internships, where interns are expected to work 15-20 hours a week for a minimum 3 month period. Interns work from home and meet with Great Aves staff once a week, for guidance and progress reports. Ideally interns will be based in Cambridge, Peterborough, and the East Midlands, although applicants from other areas in the UK will be considered.

Intern Roles

Great Aves primary functions are to raise funds and equipment for our projects and the organisation, and to recruit volunteers to work overseas. Interns roles will be based around these goals, and work will be focused on fundraising, marketing, research, and administration. Interns will be given short-term (1-2 week) specific, clearly outlined tasks, in relation to one of these goals. Interns can specify or specialise in one or more of these areas of work. As an interns placement with Great Aves progresses, tasks will become more complex and the intern given greater responsibility.

Volunteering Overseas

  • Great Aves offers volunteer placements overseas, through our overseas volunteering website YouVolunteer. Volunteers get the chance to work hands on at one of our projects, and provide valuable assistance to the schools where we work.
